We had a clean sweep last night. All of our candidates were either elected or re-elected. This is important for us, as Allentown Fire Fighters, because our position as a voice for Fire Fighter issues on the state and federal level is stronger.
We showed our friends yesterday and throughout the election that we will always be there. They saw Heldy, Jody, Shep, LJ (Leroy’s replacement plan), Macabee, Wentz, Easy E, Pedro, Retired Guy Kresge Sr., and Dusty Bones Bob X standing at the polls for their campaigns. Not only that, they knew about Heldy s Swan Song fire and were extremely thankful as well as impressed that we were still out supporting them.
Thank you to all who have manned a poll, past, and present, we know it s not easy and sacrifices are made to be there. Your sacrifice is what makes our brand strong.
This is what it takes for us to continue the progress. This is what it takes for Allentown Fire Fighters to have the loud voice we deserve. Your dedication to our Local is what it takes for all this to happen. They know who we are and they hear us.
In Solidarity,
Local 302 Executive Board

All,

There has been a lot of misinformation being put out by some Central officers with regard to wellness initiatives for our members.

Nothing has changed with wellness!

Local 302 members are covered due to our annual physical which was memorialized in the attached MOU.

Spouses DO NOT need an annual physical.  They do need to complete 3 wellness initiatives as directed in the attached Wellness program literature which has been provided to everyone starting in December of 2021 and remains in effect until our CBA expires.

We are not endorsing in the Fetterman and Oz race, they are both terrible.
We are not endorsing in the Pa SD 16 Pinsley and Coleman race. They are both terrible candidates. Pinsley is everyhing everyone hates in a politician and Jared Coleman 100% would do anything to get rid of public sector Fire Fighters and take our livelihoods.
As always vote your beliefs. We recommend candidates we have personally vetted and are pro Fire Fighters. Any questions about any candidates in your district call Perreault (484)892-1787.

We are a week out from election day. This is the day we show our support to our friends. This year our current political allies helped us secure multiple streams of funding, political appointments, and key legislation.

These allies once again helped us secure funding for gear and equipment. Our friends worked with us to ensure Bomb Squads across the state were included in the funding of the Fireworks bill. Believe it or not, they were an afterthought and it took the work of our political team as well as political allies across the state to not only get the Bomb Squads recognized but a reimbursement of 500k.

Local 302 was able to create and get appointed to a seat on the State Fire Advisory Board. This position makes sure our voices are heard in issues pertaining to statewide fire issues, not to mention access to the State Fire Commissioner and more frequent access to the Governor. This is a huge first for us and would not have been possible if we weren’t out there standing side by side with our political friends.

Each year we grow and continue to build relationships, relationships that turn into friendships. To do this we need you to help us show them we are who you want as friends and we can do that by getting their message out at the polls. Those who have worked the polls know how much of an impact we have and how much our friends appreciate it. That’s where we have the most impact and that’s why our allies help us grow. Gone are the days of “Hey give the Fire Fighters what they need because they are Fire Fighters” we have to make our voices heard and this is how we do it.

Come out and help us man the polls for our friends Tuesday, Nov 8th morning 0730-1200 (or when poll slows) afternoon 1400-closing (or when polls slow) After party to follow. Contact Perreault for availability and Tee-Shirt.

All members must notify President Warmkessel if interested.  You would need to use your own time.  Union would provide mileage for the vehicle and a per diem of 50$ per day per member.
Only respond if you are willing to be on the road in the next 36 hours and are willing to be away for a total of 7-10 days.  Please read the email from the IAFF carefully as to what you would be responsible for taking.
This help would be targeted to IAFF members impacted by the storm.  From speaking with leadership that is a large number of people.
If there is interest I will handle filling out the request form and coordinating with the team and IAFF.

The IAFF is assisting members and families impacted by Hurricane Ian, as well as working with affiliate leaders whose members were in the storm’s path.

We have established disaster relief operations in Bonita Springs and Tampa, with IAFF staff on-site to help members. A separate email has been sent to potentially affected members with a dedicated phone number they can contact for assistance, including supplies, behavioral health support, access to work crews, and financial assistance for catastrophic damage to homes.

If your members are interested in responding to the region to provide assistance, the IAFF is coordinating member support. Do not self-deploy. Please complete the Member Assistance Team form here. You will be contacted with a response assignment after your form is received.

Member Assistance Teams should:

  • Consist of a 3-4 person work team
  • Provide your own reliable transportation
  • Provide your own tools
  • Bring 3 days of food and water
  • Bring your own bedding – the IAFF will help to arrange accommodations in the area

Resources are scarce in the impacted area, along with widespread power outages. Please plan accordingly to avoid straining local resources.

Retired FF Al Fraind has died and we need to set up an honor guard for his funeral. We are just going to be standing on the steps at the entry to the church. For those who don’t know Al, not only was he a firefighter for 30 years, he is a decorated WWII vet.  Served in the 9th infantry, fought in 8 major campaigns including being the second wave at Normandy, Battle of the Bulge, North Africa, and liberated a concentration camp…. He is a true American hero.

I need at least 4 guys from 950-1020, Wednesday, at the church on the corner of American parkway and front. All on-duty personnel will stop by to pay respects. Text me to let me know if you can stand
